narcotics legalization

Drugs have proven to be one of the great scourges known to modern society. Drugs are responsible for not only the loss of life, but the loss of potential of so many people. Drugs are a great evil and warrant a considerable effort against their distribution, use and acceptance. It is true that the drug war could be more effective. It is also true that enforcement efforts result in unfortunate consequences. But legalization would not do away with these unfortunate consequences. In fact, legalization would likely exacerbate these unfortunate consequences, in addition to leading to great drug use.
